Video and teleconsultations

Video or Telehealth consultations is the use of digital information and communication technologies, such as cellphones and computers, to access health care services remotely. Telehealth is not intended to replace essential visits to healthcare professionals, but rather be a convenient solution when you can’t see a doctor face to face.

The benefits of video and teleconsultations

  • Lower costs: People who use telehealth services spend less time commuting, therefore saving costs.
  • Improved access to healthcare: Telemedicine makes it easier for heavily pregnant women to access the antenatal care that they need.
  • Convenience: Telehealth allows people to access care in the privacy and comfort of their own homes.
  • Slowing the spread of infection: Going to the hospital or doctor's office means being around people who may be sick, often in close quarters- this is particularly true during the current Covid-19 pandemic. Getting sick can put you and your baby at risk; telehealth eliminates this risk.

How it works

For the telehealth appointment, you’ll be sent a link to join a video conference with one of our healthcare professionals.

Prior to the telehealth consult, we provide all clients with a guide on what to expect and how to prepare. The main things you’ll likely need are a cellphone, tablet or computer with a camera and an internet connection.

Much like an in-office visit, we will review your medical chart and history and speak with you directly to evaluate you. We may also ask medical questions and request prior records or that additional lab testing be performed.
