Postnatal care

At NetworkOne, we have a special interest in postnatal care. Our qualified doctors, and staff continue to care for women after they have given birth. We offer postnatal home visits up til the first 10 days after birth.

Six weeks after giving birth, you will need to come in for an examination called a postnatal check-up. Although giving birth may be a normal and natural process, some women experience a few health issues, so it's important to get examined and treated early. The baby will also be examined to make sure that he/she is developing properly.

The consequences of skipping your postnatal check-up can be serious: it can lead to incomplete healing, an overlooked infection, undiagnosed postnatal depression and other health issues. Taking the time to attend this appointment is essential and can pay off in many ways, both physically and emotionally.

Our postnatal check-up for a new mother includes:

  • Checking your general health and vitals.
  • Checking if your incision is healing (If you had a tear during vaginal delivery).
  • Checking your emotional and mental well-being.
  • Examining your ovaries, uterus and cervix.
  • Examining your breasts for any abnormalities.

During your appointment, we also ask if:

  • You're feeling anxious or sad.
  • You're having trouble holding in your pee.
