Antenatal classes

At NetworkOne Maternity, we offer antenatal classes that are designed to get you ready for labour, birth and parenthood. Our goal is to guide you to make the decisions that are best for you and your baby. We provide a comfortable and safe environment for you to learn, ask questions, and explore your options.

What topics do we cover?

  • What happens during labour.
  • Coping with labour and labour pain.
  • Exercising during and after pregnancy.
  • Your feelings about the birth and becoming a new parent.
  • Caring for your baby.
  • Feeding your baby.

If you have any particular worries or concerns about your pregnancy, you may find it helpful to tell us either before or at your first class so we can find ways to support you.

When should I go to antenatal classes?

You should attend antenatal classes around 30-32 weeks. Our antenatal classes get booked up quickly, so it’s a good idea to book them early on.

Do I need antenatal classes if I've already had a baby?

Antenatal classes are not just for first-time mothers to be. If you’re having another baby, you may benefit from going to classes again. Classes can be particularly useful if you plan to give birth differently this time – for example, if you had to have a caesarean the first time, but you're giving natural birth the second time around. Antenatal classes may also be helpful if there is a big gap between your pregnancies.
